Pioneer's top 10 cassette decks are...?

No "F" in Japan?

A problem I'm having is that I come across model numbers like some of those above except they have no "F" in them. Consider, for example, the CT-1000 picture below. Is it the same as the CT-F1000? Sure looks like it to me.

Siamac nailed it for me, 3 heads versus 2 heads. I like to hear the playback immediately so I know I'm doing it right, or if a glitch happens to pop up.

Now, if the question was rephrased and asked, "what's the best looking Pioneer cassette deck?" Yes, the CT-F9191 would be 2nd on my list behind the CT-F1000, but that wasn't the question. A lot of Pioneer collectors happen to confuse looks with functionality and perfomance, which to me, sounds like a good question to ask the whole forum. New thread time!

I agree with Oldskool that the CT-F9191 gets a bad rap. But I will admit that although my playback is awesome on that unit, the REW/FF functions on most of those units just did not withstand the test of time. Now my CT-F1000...that's a whole different story: Amazing in every aspect.

Oh I agree that model needs some TLC after 30 years, but trust me; after Rich got done with my 9191 it runs & sounds incredible. Even my old, old cassettes Ive had since the 70s came to life.

Rich is gonna 'sweeten' two more 9191 decks for me in the near future also. That fella sure does know how to make 'em sing! :music:

My dad bought a CTF-9191 in 1978. It has large VU meters not flouroscan. I think one of my brothers has it now, not the one that appreciates good equipment or even knows how to take take of it. A shame because it was a really nice deck.
 
hello Gentlemen, What about the CT-F8282? That is a great deck as far as I'm concerned:) I have one. It sounds and operates flawlessly.

F stands for "Flawless", heheheh!
 
I've had my CT-F750 for some months now. I got a good deal on it and I was able to replace all the belts. I don't use it much because I don't have hardly any cassettes. Anyway, she's in great condition and plays very well. This post gave me an excuse to pull her out. Suppose I need to make room for it somwhere.

I had a CT-F9191 and I loved it. then went to the CT-F900. The 9191 was just as good if not better.

I have a CT-F 750 now and have melted belts. Does anyone know how to clean that goo out of there and where to get good replacement belts? It would be even better if anyone knew where I could send it in Central New York to have the repairs done for a resonable price.

My hands aren't as steady as they used to be
 
I see some arguements about the CT-93 vs CT-95. For one its not mentioned on the OP original list, but someone below put it on theirs at the top. I can see the CT-95 has a frequency range of 10HZ to 30KHZ for metal tapes, but at what plus or minus db? I've never seen a tapedeck listed to 30khz. I find it hard a cassette can even do that. Must be at like -30db or something.

That said the CT-93 seems to be built better with more high end parts. I would imagine cost cutting went into the 95. The 95 was a cheaper deck then the 93 when new, but for some reason the 95 sells for more money then the 93 used. Any comments?

I know this thread is old - but !

Agreed -- I have the same deck - used it last night to record " The Highwaymen " and it worked flawlessly - I've had it for around 15 years. I paid $10 for it at a church garage sale !
 
pioneer cassette deck

the ct-07-d with its digital processing system has an unbelivable s/n ratio when using metal tape. Also it can transfer via digital connection, a cd to cassette.

My two cents...CT-F9191 after having belts changed and having a working fast forward- reverse clutch.

This deck made great recordings but it had a major flaw. The fast forward transports were made to go too fast thus eating your tapes when you would press stop to play again. This issue was never corrected until the CTF 1250 came out.
