I just acquired a Thorens TD 520s yesterday. All 3 speeds (33, 45, 78) work and are spot on with the on board strobe. As I am planning to do preservation work on older discs with the 520, I need to be able to adjust the speed manually.
Pitch is supposed to be adjustable +/- 6% on this unit. There is very little "play" left to right on the control knob. It seems to have been immobilized or is stuck. Before I go exploring the inner workings, I was wondering if someone may have a tip. Could it be possible the unit was meant for a broadcast studio and was purposefully immobilized so that no one could accidentally hit the knob?
I also have a Thorens TD 125 mkII which uses the wheel type mechanism.
