Recently purchased a PL-41 at auction for a great price. It needed to have it's belt and thrust plate replaced, as well as some cosmetic work, but apart from that, it seems like it hadn't been used much. I followed the instruction in the manual, and added two drops of sewing machine oil in the indicated hole. Upon turning it on, the motor sounded dead silent, but after letting it run for a bit it started making an odd noise (video below).

Can anyone diagnose what is going on with the motor? My first guess is that maybe the original owner wasn't using it or adding oil often enough and that is causing it to sound this way. Appreciate the help.

Don’t run it like that. You need to open that motor and service it. Those motors are known for running very quietly.
