Starting to look a little better...

The strobe is flickering in and out?? Speed is great though?

Thanks,
John.:music::D

I also have a PL-510A. I picked it up at a Goodwill for $23. Beside a light scratch on the dust cover, the TT is a champ. I have not had any problems with it. Looks like the previous owner never really used it. I am currently using it in my bedroom. It does hold speed wonderful.

I do have a different headshell on it...

Great! Score. That is a test cart I use for new tts. The strobe lamp is on and off? Off now. I used a external strobe to test speed and adjust.

Thank you for the pics jleon92f. I have never looked under the hood of mine, so now I have an idea. Though my cables are fine, I have 3 sets of replacement cables ready for a worthy TT. I can't really tell from your picture, but was wondering if this would be an easy table to swap cables on. Seems like there is plenty of room on this table to work with, and that the configuration of the post makes for an easy switch. What do you think?

You are talking about the RCA cables? Looks easy enough. Have you soldered much? Take a picture before just in case you forget where the L/R channel go.

Good Luck.

Thank you....Yes, I am talking about the RCA cables. I have done very little soldering, but that is why the configuration is so important to me. I did a Sanyo TP-825 turntable (my first cable job) and it was easy since the wires went to a circiut board that was easy to get at. It scares me when the headshell wires are mounted real close to the RCA wires. For the Sanyo, I simply heated the wires and pulled them out of their holes. Heated again and put the new wires in. The headshell wires attached far enough away that they didn't pose an issue. I was going to do some other TTs, but decided against it simply because the new THICKER wires (even if the soldering would be easy) didn't want to fit into the original gaps provided.

Ho hum! Another great restoration by John. this is getting sooooooooooooo boring. ;)

I have a PL-510A in mint condition...now I know the difference between the "S" and "A" Mine does not get the play time that it deserves, but I am glad you're giving this one some new life.

I have a minty 510A in the basement rig as well. Has some stability issues that Deoxit didn't fix when I got it, but Soundmadness fixed that and added RCA jacks. It's pretty nice with an Ortofon OM30 and a couple of lbs of duct seal underneath!

I've always wanted to cover the vinyl with veneer.

Nice job!

Will you apply a new adhesive film with the wood-pattern on the sides of the TT body?

The sides are gray on this one, have not decided.
Thanks,

There are (2) speed pots on the PCB inside that help fix the problem.

I new there was a reason why I liked Vinyl over CD's...:D
They sound so good...
