Please help complete my system: $3000 speakers

Hi,

I've been gradually building my first HiFi system. The following is what I have so far:

Source: Rega RP6 + Linn Adikt cart
Phono stage: Lejonklou Kinki 3
Integrated Amp: Simaudio 250i

I have a max budget of $3000 for speakers. My floor plan is a 13 ft x 15ft space that flows into an adjoining 13 ft x 15 ft space separated by 2 ft wall projections. I will likely place the speakers along the 15 ft wall, so one side is open to the adjoining space. Ceiling height is 9.5 ft.
I listen to Rock, eclectic "world music", some R&B and classical.

I've been advised to go for floorstanders. I would appreciate your thoughts and recommendations on speakers. I've been looking at the Goldenear Triton2s.

I heard a system in Missoula with similar components to yours. He was using some very large B&W nautilus speakers. I forget the model but they were the wide and deep ones- not the tower type. Sounded incredible. That Simaudio stuff is great.
 
Thanks for your input. I'll look into the speakers mentioned. They will have to be reasonably efficient as the amp is only 50 Wpc.

Yeah, Wharfedale is making some really-nice higher-end models these days (Their old TOTL models from the '60's like the Airedales and W90's need some old-fashioned tube-voiced power to shine, but you might want to look for a pair of E90's... Those are quite-efficient but have a much-more-modern voicing than their earlier stuff). On the used side, there's always Bozak Symphonies. Those would compete with new stuff in that range. That amp of yours is apparently quite the powerhouse despite the 50wpc rating (100wpc @ 4ohms... That's no joke).

When you say you like rock, do you mean classic-rock from the '60's, '70's, and '80's, or are you referring to modern stuff mostly?

I heard a couple of Duke's Audiokenisis speakers and especially the Prisma are fantastic IMO. $3,300 new.
93db and 8 ohms would work beautifully with your amp. Not sure about how they would work in your room, but I would eMail Duke and ask. He will answer you straight.
If I were looking for speakers in that price range they would definitely be on my short list.

Not sure where you are located, but he will be at the Lone Star Audio Fest in Dallas May 3, 4, 5.
