I believe those are RS 4's. I had a pair briefly. Picked them up, re-foamed them and then sold them.

Look at the speaker terminal. If I remember correctly, the model number was etched for lack of a better word in the plastic surrounding the speaker terminals. I'm getting old and don't remember the proper name! etched, embossed, stamped?

Thanks guy's I'm picking them up tomorrow morning. Both woofers need surrounds. and those model numbers will help.
I'll post the model numbers as soon as I get back.

i'm guessing Reference 5, possibly 4. it's definitely not RS or any of the Kappas.

Looks like a RS-5001e with a replacement midrange cone driver instead of the Polyspherite, according to the website.

The midrange drivers might need a refoam too... but for what your starting price is, its worth it.

I believe those are from the Crescendo Series, and yours would be the CS 3006 model with the IMG woofer and midrange. Just google Infinity Crescendo CS 3006. Those are nice speakers with real wood veneer and with an EMIT-R tweeter. They do seem a little cheap compared to the older RS 3b, 4b and Kappa series, but everything went downhill after the CS series. Once you start looking at the CS series, you will want to track down the CS 3009's.

theyre not crescendo's crescendos have squared edging where the ones in the picture have a definate rounding to some edges those are also a vinyl veneer that model series used the same drivers as the crescendo's emit-r and img drivers but had different crossover points and they couldn't be biamped whereas the crescendos you can

I do believe I've opened up a can of worm's.
The owner swears that there are no number's near the binding posts... We will see....

If they are Referance types it is usually stamped/ imbossed at the top of the termical cup- mine were.

hmmm...kbott's right about the rounded cabinet front edges. My CS3007's are squared. Well Jim - let us know as soon as you find out. Good luck.

i've seen them and others in that line on ebay when I was trying to souce a pair of emit-r's for my 3008's I just don't know what infinity called them they seem to reuse names so much

Drum roll please, and the winner is......................................

"i'm guessing Reference 5, possibly 4. it's definitely not RS or any of the Kappas."

cdfac Win's by a comfortable margin.
The speaker identification was done in the sun and sure enough above the speaker terminals the words "REFERENCE FOUR" are cast in the plastic terminal cup.
The cabinets are light weight and have a few issues with the corners. The woofer surrounds are cracked but the Mid's are fine I saw a refoam kit on CrapBay last night for $30 plus shipping that would refoam both Woofer's and Mid's.
This project will wait till fall when business slows down (I hope not too much).
Thanks for all the support, you guy's are the greatest !!!!!!!!!!!

wait till you pull the drivers and you'll understand some of the lightweight but boy do they produce double check the mids I had to replace the surrounds on them as well on both my pair of crescendo's

Stop the presses, was there a difference in the "Reference" and the "Reference Standard" line's? The plastic binding post cup didn't have enough room to add the word "Standard" and gatorvrx Posted this......

While cdfac posted this.....

"it's definitely not RS or any of the Kappas."

So the question here is, is there a R.S. line and just a R. line or are they the same?
Hungry minds want to know.........

Mine might have said reference 4. I did not have them for long and don't remeber RS 4 or reference four, but I know there was a 4 in there! I picked them. up re-foamed them and sold them. I have several pairs of various Infinity speakers, but there was something about them I didn't like. Actually, I'm partial to two way speakers and not three ways. 99% of my speakers, and I own 20 pair or so are two ways. I'm probably the odd man out, but I like the lows and highs to be emphasised, and the mids to be somewhat flat. I'm just weird!
