I got a TT with Audiotechnica head. It needs replacement stylus. I bought one from ebay long ago after advice from AK members. It looks alike but I can't fit it in. No way. New stylus is ATN70. Need good advice. Thanks.
Pics 1,4,5 -- old stylus which needs replacement.
Pics with orange box -- new stylus which doesn't fit.
THANKS.

Hmm, those SHOULD be compatible. That's definitely an AT70 cartridge, and the boxed stylus is an ATN70 stylus.

Try the Pfanstiehl AT71E stylus. I had one once and it worked quite well.

Hi,

It looks perfectly compatible. You need to place the little hook in place and then push up
to fit the stylus, it certainly won't slide into place from the front, which you may be trying.
Removal is the reverse. pull down, not forward.

The red stylus (ATN70) is an entry level conical tip that has a recommended tracking force of 2 to 3 grams (2.5 optimum). Best stylus for that body is the blue ATN72E-has a much nicer elliptical tip and tracks at 1 to 2 grams (1.5 gr optimum). Better sound and better for your records

Sreten (hi, btw...): One would imagine that if VO is able to remove the old needle and put it back on, he shouldn't have dificulties with the replacement either...

VO: So where exactly does the replacement get stuck, when you try to insert it? And maybe two side-by-side pics of the old needle and the replacement showing the needle outsides and insides could help to reveal the exact differences, in case there really are any...

It almost has to be a problem with the stylus you bought. I've never heard of Condor before. It may be perfectly okay but then again it may not be.

I'm guessing you're in the RF. If so, you might have better luck buying a stylus from one of the better suppliers in the EU, either William Thakker in Germany or Pickupnaalden.nl in the Netherlands. Good luck.

Hi,

One would assume. However if there is a time gap between removing the old
stylus and trying to fit a new one confusion is possible. The OP does not state
the old stylus still fits but the new one doesn't, or describe any differences in
the two styli that would indicate some incompatibility. I was simply guessing.
Sometimes eliminating very basic errors as a possibility is a good idea.
