^^^ Yup that's exactly what they are. Speakers from a "rack system". Looks like plastic cones, with soft dome tweeter. I believe they are a true 3 way with one woofer being active and one passive...but I could be mistaken.
I worked at a home electronics chain in the mid 90's and these appear to be from that era (+/- a couple of years)

Yeah, they look like the same speakers my brother-in-law bought about 15 yrs ago with a Technics rack system. IIRC it cost around $1200 for the whole system including the rack/cabinet. The electronics were separates, decent, but nothing special. Last time I saw it, he'd replaced several of them with cheaper BPC.
FWIW he also bought a Bose Waveradio and convinced his elderly mother to buy one also... this for a woman who doesn't even own a CD to play on it! :thumbsdn:
