Please ID this mid whizzer cone driver (Philips?)

I purchased a pair of 5" whizzer cone mids off eBay marketed as "Philips" to use as spares for my Rectilinear Highboy III. They are marked:

Made in Belgium
AD 5061/M8
DD706 03 83
2464 257 35502

From the front, they look identical to the Philips mids in my Highboys and fit the baffle hole perfectly. The only difference between the two is that the magnet on the spare is round (and large) whereas the original has a square (and small) magnet. Photos of the spare driver are attached.

Can anyone confirm what this driver is, or most importantly, if it may be a suitable replacement for the original Highboy mid?

Thank you.

All the best,

I'm no speaker expert by far. And without being able to see the backs of mine, as it encased in a plastic bubble. The front looks exactly like the mid in my Rectilinear III's ca, early 1970's.
Right down to the foam gasket on top, and the octagon shape.

Yes,they are a late version of the classic Philips.First came the Alnico AD3500 versions, then the AD5060,then the AD5061 with a bigger magnet.
Tack så mycket, Rolf.

The amount of knowledge residing on this board, in combination with the helpfulness of all the individuals making it available, never seize to amaze me:thmbsp:.

Are the three generations of the "classic Philips" deemed sonically identical and for all intents and purposes interchangeable, or did Philips develop them into something better (or worse!) as new generations developed?

Thanks.

The only problem with using the bigger-magnet versions, is that they're SLIGHTLY more efficient than the small-magnet version.

Of course, you can usually just turn down the midrange L-pad on the back of the cabinet, a tad... problem usually solved. I would want to change BOTH in a pair, though, just for the sake of matching any very slight frequency response changes (the bigger magnet one might have just a tad more upper mids with relation to lower mids, by fractional dB)...

Regards,
Gordon.
