Hello all,

I spoke to Grumpy about this a few times this morning and he thought I should post a thread about it.

I use ESET NOD32 anti-virus/anti-spyware and while surfing the forum this morning I clicked on the following thread: "My First Failure, a Yamaha" http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=171543.

It was immediately blocked by NOD32 anti-virus. It notified me that BAT/HDK13.A trojan was detected. My mother uses the same anti-virus program so I came to her home to check it here. Same problem occurs. Is anyone else experiencing this as well?

FYI: I did a complete spyware scan with Ad-Aware and also a complete system scan with NOD32 and Symantec's on-line virus scan and my system is clean. I also did a fresh install of Window's XP and all updates to my computer last weekend.

I looked at it last night and got a bunch of (!)'s I don't know much about this stuff. I just switched to another thread and I haven't had any problems, I have no idea what protection is on this 'puter but, I know it's pretty good stuff. No probs Yet.

I can't help but wonder how an individual thread could be infected by a virus: Anyone here knows how to code a virus using BB Code? :scratch2:
 
I don't know either how one thread could be infected, but I thought maybe when my browser tried to load an attachment from the thread that may have been what set off my av program.

It's also strange that my mom's computer responds the same way.
 
Yikes! I would hate to have to choose between freely browsing AK threads, and risking virus infection on my computer. I've never heard of a virus being spread like that... scary thought!

Please post if you find out anything definitive. Cheapskate that I am, I'm also using AVG... and so far, so good; seems to work well. But now I'm not going to risk opening that thread you mention... :no:
 
In theory the banner ads could carry malicious content or the site itself could be hacked, but my McAfee didn't complain. I trust our admins have sophisticated security measures in place.
 
No problems with McAfee here. Checked my logs and events just to be sure, nothing flagged...................R1

maybe your computer hates yamaha. no im kidding, but im using avast
an it opened right up w/o any problems
 
I have read that thread and have posted to it. Just scanned my system with Avira, XsoftSpySE and RegCure and it is all clean.
 
Did anyone else have any computer porblems with that thread. I need to know this.
 
I read it yesterday and have had no problems. Did a virus and spyware scan late last night and everything's ok.
