Please recommend E-V Interface B tweeter replacement.

Have one blown, trying to find a pair of replacements online that would be decent AND fit. It's turned into a real wild goose chase.

Speakers are 1977 models with the square frame paper tweeter.

Thanks in advance!

I believe they are Peerless although there is no labeling to indicate such. My assumption is based on what I've read online.

Edge to edge of the square frame is 69mm. Mounting holes measured diagonally are 74mm. Side to side, the holes are 53mm.

Above tweeters look nice, but unfortunately are too small.

Please let us know how they work out - it would be great to have a source for new parts.

Ordered. Mean SPL is almost perfect for the speakers. I don't like that they don't have straight frames. Looks like they will fit well, but as these E-Vs have a passive radiator, I will have to fashion a gasket and or apply some silicone to make for a tight seal.

As far as cosmetics, they will be under the felt damper squares. There was also foam under the felt, but they crumbled into dust. I don't think it would make a huge difference if I don't have the foam.

Installed the tweeters. Perfect fit.

More importantly, I was immediately struck by the sound. First few seconds, I noticed how more upfront the snare had become.

Very defined and percussive. Overall, an improvement over the originals. Much bigger magnet as well.

Thank you very much. It likely would have never occurred to me to purchase tweeters from Mouser.

This is great news since I believe that there are MANY speakers that use this tweeter.
Rectilinear, Fultons, and many more. If the magnet is bigger and all else is equal they
will be more efficient which can be easily fixed with a pad.
You could have done the broken one first and then compared to the original one but
anyway if you like them all is good.

I have a pair of Interface A s as documented here:

I could always put the good original tweeter back in and compare.

As mentioned, the SPL is 90 dB for the tweeter, 91 dB for the E-V speakers. I figured that’s a good match and I don’t have to bother with L-Pads. If I need to tamp it down, I’ll try adding some thin foam. I have a small sheet.

These are the third pair I’d bought. I guess third time is a charm. I’m very pleased.

Intrigued by your speakers with the rear-firing tweeters. I could use a hole saw and put a pair in… That said, I have a pair of Pyramid TW-28s in which I replaced the no-name caps with Solen paralleled with Auricap. I could just turn ‘em around.
