I'm running Plex on my Roku into my home theater system. I get a little "pop" or "click" at the beginning and end of every track on every album. Happens in stereo only mode as well as any of the surround modes. These are FLAC files from CD's I have ripped myself with dBPoweramp and store on a WD 4tb external hard drive. I don't hear these at low volume, barely notice them at all at a moderate level, but at a higher volume level they are pretty annoying. Of course, now I find I actually listen for the pop so maybe it will get better as I become accustomed to it.
I'll do some experimenting on different systems. I have a couple other TV's that I run Plex into - both without any external sound system attached. I will check again with my desktop system running Foobar, but I didn't hear those when I listened this morning - even with headphones. I might try running the Plex server from the internal drive in the desktop to see if that makes a difference.
Multiple questions: Has anyone else dealt with this? Any ideas as to what causes the "pop"? Is there anything I've done in the ripping process that might be at fault? Of course, any solutions or even guesses at solutions will be welcome.
Edit: I just found that there is a slight pause introduced as well. Playing Alan Parsons "Eye In The Sky" where the first track "Sirius" segues directly into "Eye In The Sky", there is a very noticeable break of maybe one second. Same thing between "Children Of The Moon" and "Gemini" - what should be a smooth transition has a slight pause. I'm looking into "gapless playback" issues now...
Another Edit: Found this is a known issue with Plex. It just does not support gapless playback. One thread I read on Plex Forums was over a year old with numerous users asking for info and updates. So... poop.
