PNW Gathering 2009 Picture thread.

I enjoyed meeting everyone and it was great to see a lot of unique equipment.

I unfortunately picked up someone Dire Straits CD - On Every Street. If you send me your address - I would gladly ship it back to you.

Buckleboy,

I like your caption about the caps regarding my Sansui 1000a . It was embarrasing, but I lived to tell about it. The bias diode failed as a short and blew the first cap. No other damage so I'm not too upset. At least the speakers worked with Sir.Byrd's loan of a receiver. It was a fun day and I enjoyed meeting everyone I spoke with.

Hope to see everyone next year if not sooner.
John

I'm glad you liked the snapshots.

That Sansui is a beautiful receiver. Sansui started out making transformers.

I like the sound of tubes and transformers. Nobody will ever change my mind.

Boy, that looked like alot of fun! :thmbsp: I'm looking forward to the next MPLS get together.

Thanks for sharing the photos guys! 'Helps to put faces with names too.

hey did the results of the tuner shoot out ever get posted?

thanks to all who took and posted pictures. Sorry I missed it again this year.

we didn't do any sort of tuner shoot out it seams to have been forgotten about along the way!

WOW! Looks like you guy`s had a great time and everyone broughht lots of gear to check out. Very cool. :thmbsp:

Mostly pre-recorded source material got played, linear TTs and CDPs. Kelso is a pretty FM-hostile spot. I think my TOTL Sansui was the only tuner heard in the room (through a presumptively double-plus-good Stereoph1le class A setup anyway).

For a couple of seconds I played opera on my RT-707 RTR, but that didn't last long :D Elton John went over much better over on Mark's Yamaha and ELP (on the 9's?).

Hmmm, I had the tuner playing on the Fisher Allegro. Also had the Kenwood tuner playing through the little single ended 7189A amp. Definitely hostile FM area though as I couldn't get hardly anything but static on the EV-1255 tuner.

I don't think Mark (mpholland) found a new owner for it, and it went back home with him. Neat unit!

Actually, it is an Allegro. Still sitting in my garage feeling quite lonely. I am trying to find a headshell for the Garrard model 50. Other than that it is in good working order.

seeing all the photos gives a nice taste of the event..
i feel somewhat left out now. :P
was all the gear brought high end?
i dont think i own anything that woud be worthy..
i want to make it to the next one.. i'l just be spectator though.

It was a great time to be sure. The gear ran the gamut from barely functional vintage:D to some very nice, current production high end equipment. Don't be emabarassed, just bring what you've got. Audio snobbery isn't allowed.

Are you planning one for 2010? Might want to get some RSVP's first or figure out a way to get more people to show. I had a good time, but thought there should have been more people and equipment. Maybe the economy will be better by then. Maybe I'll have the Craftsmen 500's done by then.

Yes, same location.
That room isn't too terrible, a little live, but not bad. From previous experience, SL7s do sound pretty good in that room.

It seems like the strong bass might be tamed a little, at least compared to my 10x10 room!
