I just know from experience that my MRC woofers took several weeks of 100 watts inputted into them to make the mid bass come alive. Do you have experience with these speakers? How much excursion depends on how many watts they are fed. Let the ears be the judge not your hypothetical math equation.

I agree. However, since I can't get to the controls, I'd have to depend on Christine finding the correct one, which she has trouble accomplishing, and would almost certainly change level and phase settings before she got to the crossover - which controls woofer only. Not a high-pass for the mains. I'd rather leave them be for the return of the Brystons in a few days.

I wish I'd had the opportunity to hear the Bryston Mini T's. I've two of their preamps in use, and they're mighty fine at simply disappearing acoustically. The 4b was a nice amp, but ran too hot for my tastes, I sold it and ended up back on Carver amps.

Well, that was fun, but I had Christine and Casey re-box the Sony SS-CS5 (Sony Speakers - Core Series 5) and store them in a closet; the Bryston Mini-T have retained their spot. So nice to have them back in action.
I overheard the girls talking from another room as they worked their way back to the den:
Christine said, "Now that's what it's supposed to sound like! Those other speakers just sounded tinny and wimpy. These have bass!" and they entered the room.
"And these sound so much... uh... clearer," replied Casey, "even from the other room I could hear a big difference - like I was actually in the room!"
"Yes," Christine agreed, "Speakers have different speakers in them to make the different sounds - high sounds and low sounds - and these speakers have better speakers in them than those other speakers have in them, so that's why they sound better."
I always love it when my wife explains audio to others, especially other women; it makes for some interesting and often amusing analysis. And, of course, she is not wrong here, but the terminology is entertaining. All-in-all my walk on the cheap side certainly increased my appreciation of the Brystons.
