Polk Audio M7 Series 2

Hi all,
I snagged a nice pair of Polk M7's today. I've searched high an low and can't find the specs. I see the regular Polk M7 but these are M7 Monitor Series 2. From what I see on the web the only difference it the tweeter but not sure. Anyone?

From reviews of the M7 sounds like they might be winners. Haven't listened to them yet but I will soon as I get home from work. Looks like they are 3 way but I read somewhere it has a 5" mid with a 10" passive woofer strange.

I think I found it. At least the specs for the first M7 (assuming M7 Series 2 are the same)

Looks like the page actually is the M7S.2 as it lists the SL2500 tweeter.

I just picked up a pair of the Monitor 7 Series 2 last week. Been looking for a reasonably priced pair for years. The Monitor 7s are supposed to be the sweet spot in Polk's classic Monitor line. Better bass response than the smaller monitors and better imaging than the ubiquitous (and sweet sounding) monitor 10's. The Monitors have one 6 1/2 inch mid. The larger "woofer" is passive with no electrical connections. You need to make sure the cabinet is airtight or it doesn't work as well. Gently push in on the passive and hold it in. The mid should push out and stay there for a few seconds (the longer the better). If it goes out and quickly goes back in you have an air leak somewhere. Make sure all of the speakers and the crossover still have their gaskets.

I will eventually recap it with Poly caps and upgrade the tweeter to the Polk RDO-198 (a drop in replacement). It will cost me a lot more than I paid but it should sound great.

Hey thanks, I checked the airtightness before I bought them. All is good, these babies are in near pristine condition. I hooked them to my SAE2200 amp a little while ago and they do sound amazing. Unbelievable how a 6 1/2 inch driver with 10" passive woofer can put out the volume and bass that it does. Best $30 I've spent in a while. They had a Polk sub and 6 little polk surround on stands there as well but I passed on them. The little ones where in good shape but the sub's surround was on the border of bad. They wanted $10/each for the little ones and $15 for the sub. Probably should have grabbed them as well but I'm really not into the surround systems.

I was planning on flipping these for a few bucks, but as always i'll likely keep them for a while. I really love how easy they are to listen to.
