Polk Monitor 10's and Peerless

I thought there was a thread here somewhere addressing this but I can't find it. Doe's anyone know if there's a problem mating the Peerless tweeters from the 10A's (I think) with the Polk 10B's that have the silver coil ones. I know that they're not an exact drop in fit but I'm wondering about the crossover's.

I just got the 10B's and replaced all 4 mid/low drivers and have a pair of the Peerless I'd like to try. But if they won't work I'm happy with the way the Polk's sound now. Any advice?.........Thanks, R1

I'm pretty sure that the tweeters are about the same. If anything the peerless are the better units. I believe that they should fit right in the holes. Brad

MY recollection is that the crossover is a non-issue, and that the peerless will not fit in the opening for the silver coils without some judicious routing of the opening to allow for the larger face plate of the Peerless.

But the best advice is to go straight to the source and contact Ken Swauger at Polk Customer Service- kswauger@polkaudio.com, or 1-800-377-7655 x 891. Polk's customer service and support for their heritage speakers is as good as it gets in the industry, IMO.

Toze nailed it, the Peerless is bigger than the silver coil. I have 5As and 10Bs and thought of swapping tweets but they don't fit.

I know that the SDA-2 and 10s have SL-2000 silver domes in some versions. My 5JRs have SL-1500 (not sure what these are called). I had some extra SL-2000s so I stuck them in the 5JRs. It fit with no problem but sound like big time crap.

Sorry those don't fit Mark, but you got some nice Peerless tweeters. You can probably find a nice set of the Silver Dome units on ebay. I bet they won't be packed as well as the ones you just got though. That guy really knows how to pack stuff. Brad
