Polk or Cambridge Soundworks

Just looking for a simple start off bookshelf speaker to go with my TT. I saw these walking through best buy today and thought they looked pretty nice for the price http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Polk+Au...lack/8828012.p?id=1207956903491&skuId=8828012 also heard that this model six unit from cambridge was pretty good as well http://store.cambridgesoundworks.com/category/41261220381/1/Bookshelf.htm Anyway I thought I should consult with some experts, like yourselves, before I make a purchase....trying to stay under 150USD but, any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. I've seen the Cambridge Soundworks Model 6, sell as cheaply as $99 a pair, with FREE shipping, from the CSW web-site.
At THAT price, buying a pair is a no-brainer!
I've had a pair for years now, and they are well worth the $$$, IMO.

if I do opt. for a modern speaker like the polk, KRK, or CSW Model 6 will i have trouble connecting it to an older receiver?
 
nope, unless they are Sony proprietary connections. Most speakers use spring clips or binding posts the same as old speakers.
 
Also take a look at the Polk Monitor 30's

I have them and they have a good sound, but I did mate them to the Polk PSW10 subwoofer for an extra octave of bass. You can always pick up a subwoofer at a later date. They have a laser like clarity without being TOO crisp.

I checked Cambridge Soundworks and the Model 6 is selling for $149.99

I might pick up a pair of the Model 6's for my study as I am really interested in hearing how they sound. From their specs, I would think they sound close to my AR4x speakers, which are now keeping my granddaughter happy!

$149 is the REGULAR price for the model 6 speakers from CSW.
You can often find discounts, specials, and coupons on the CSW web-site though.
