How about some thoughts on Polk in general, older Polks, and Polk RTA 11. I also have a smaller Polk set but can't remember the model..............Ok...Went downstairs and the other set are monitor series M5.

I've got some rta's. And they kick ass. Unfortunately they are out of circulation right Now because I don't have a good place to set them up. Soon though.

Hi vintagep-- I have a pair of RTA12B's and a pair of SDA-1A's. Both are enjoyable. The RTA's have excellent bass output and good balance. The SDA's are in another class with the SDA technology. The SDA's really create a wide stereo image when given a good recording. Can't specifically comment on the RTA11 model though. Have you checked out Club Polk for lots of experienced "Polkies" and their opinions/advice?? I think highly of the vintage Polk speakers. The newer monitors are good speakers too. :thmbsp:

I love my 10B's and 7C's and one of my all time favorites are the RTA 12C's and SDA 1C's. I have had both the 11's and 15's I find the 11T's and 15TL's to be a bit more directional than the RTA 12's or SDA's. I guess it also depends on your room and what you would be using them for. In a HT setup you could go with the 11's or 15's but for stereo listening I would probably go with an RTA 12 or an SDA 1C. I have also stacked my 7's on top of my 10's and that's sure something special.
Just my .02
Good luck and happy listening.

I love my RTA12C's. Very open sound. My other Monitor speakers are also impressive, especially the 7C's. They're very good with music but are equally adept with movies IMO.

I really love my SDA 1Bs. I've owned a bunch of nice speakers over the years, but none of them come close to the sound of my SDAs. Great bass, smooth mids, clean highs, and a soundstage that extends beyond the walls of the room.

My RTA 12C's were my first real speakers, I had to settle on the RTA's after a seller of Monitor 10's flaked out on me. Boy am I glad I had to 'settle' while I hear the M10's are a lot of fun the RTA's are a bit higher on the Polk ladder. Since then I've added SDA CRS+'s in the bedroom and two pair of Monitor 5 JR+. I find it hard to turn down a great speaker at a great price!

I've owned the 11TL for 20 years. I like the bass and mids--never liked that tweeter. I replaced it 8 years ago and have been happy with the speakers ever since.

Also owned the original 10's from new. Always loved that speaker. Some people on
AK say the 7's are better--can't comment never heard the 7's.

Just one man's opinion...

I have a pair of 10A's as well. Very smooth with the Peerless tweeter. I've found that mine "come into their own" in a larger rather than somewhat smaller room though.

Polks you say? The only speaker manufacturer that I've thought enough of to own 3 different pair of their products at once. Sure they can't do all things right but I can listen to my rta's or sda's all day long with no listener fatigue. I really like their smooth sound and big soundstage.

Rta 11t

I have owned a pair of RTA 11T's for more than 10 years now, and they compete with my Cizek Model Ones for listening time.

The Polks have tremendous bass, sweet miss and extended highs.

There are few speakers that can compete with the Polks that are in the same price range.

I play them currently through a Cayin A-100t tube integrated, and until I can afford Usher Mini Dancer Twos ( not likely any time soon), I will likely stick with the Polks.

Cheers
