AB'd Polk RTA 12b and some Infinity Column IIs tonight and I was very surprised that I enjoyed the Column IIs nealry as much as the Polks.
I've had the Infinty Colimn IIs for about 4 months but Polks were in storage. Drove both with Sansui 881. I've always been a big fan of Polks. Have had Montiors from 5jr all the way through the 10 and 11T's. I know some say with the doped 10" downward facing woofer there is too much bass and some songs I may agree. I think these definitely hit harder than my Vega D7s.
These were 100% an opportunity buy back four months ago as I was traveling and they were along my way for nearly free. Figured I'd pick them up to tinker with and learn on doing crossovers and veneering and such on. Glad I grabbed them. I think the Polks with the peerless are a little more detailed and refined and slightly less fatiguing but the Column IIs give them a good run.
Song choices varied. From classic rock of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin to alternative with Dirty Heads (alternate with raggae and rap influences) and Ocean Park Standoff and pop crap to pacify the woman with Halsey and Bebe Rexha (and Post Malone). Lastly let's not forget Baby Shark for the kids.
All said and done Polks win out but Infinity Column II are keepers.
