Polk SDA CRS speaker thrift store find

Picked up a pair of Polk sda crs speakers from my local thrift yesterday for $25.00. The umbilical cord was missing though. Wasn't sure about the desirability of these before buying, but figured I take a chance and get them. I know the SDA series has a loyal following. I've never seen these before though. Anyway, got them home and hooked them up to my vintage system downstairs which consists of a Kyocera A-710 integrated amp, a Sony x77es cdp, and a pioneer pl-600 (silver). For smaller speakers they sure put out some sound! I was relieved that they worked and surprised at the amount of bass they have. While they sound decent, they wont be replacing my a/d/s l810 or Yamaha ns-690's. I know I'm not hearing them at their best without the connecting cable though. Does anyone know if this cable is available from Polk still or am I 30 yrs to late? Also, since getting these I have Googled them and am seeing different versions. Mine have the single tweeter and two mids. I've seen others with two tweeters and the two mids. Which is the original, or first version? Which is better? All in all, not bad sound for little cash outlay! Thanks in advance for any info or input. Sorry no pics.

Head over to the polk forum - you can build a cable... Those are sweet speakers. Plan on doing a recap and gluing the magnet in place as they are notorious for shifting if they get a bump. I had a set of Sda 2b's and they were very very nice.

That qualifies as a score. And you just may change your mind on them not besting your ADS's or Yammys once you have the sda cable hooked up. You're only hearing about half of what they're capable of right now. And yes your single tweeter model is the newer, better sounding model; crs+. They generally run over $200 for a pair in decent shape.

Thanks for the info guys! As far as gluing the magnets, I assume you mean the mids? Or is it the rear woofer? Both?

The rear woofer is a passive radiator, no magnet to shift back there. When you get a cable assembled you should pull a big stack of music and a beverage and sit back and enjoy. Some recordings have a crazy wide soundstage.

The 2 6" woofers on the front. That's a passive in the rear. While you have them out you should also use some armacell to make some new gaskets and dynamat the woofers. These mods and many more are documented at the polk forum.

Rca cable works fine

Remove the outer shell so that the center pin goes in the hole. Only the pin hole is active the blade was just for support. Only glue (jb weld) the black magnet to the housing on the rear of the 6.5 speakers I never did mine but I am careful not the bang them around
