Polk SDA SRS 2.3 - NW MO

Not a score by any means and not the more desirable tl version either. But it is a good way to get your feet wet in big sda land if you have the proper room for them.

That is more than fair for 2.3's. The TL version brings a lot more, but still a lot of speaker.

Hmm.... yes, no, may be...
Do they worth that much? Yes.
Is that a deal price? No.
Can you find them cheaper? May be.

I've seen them here pop up every now and then from $400 to $700 and TL version with crossover upgraded at $1000.
So not a steal plus if you plan on their upgrade, it'll take another $500 for tweeters and crossover etc...

You really can't change them into a "TL" version, just upgrade the caps and resistors.

Yes and no.
Yes, upgrade doesn't make them TL but no, you can actually replace the SL2000 with RDO-194 that have smoother response without the 12khz hump and RDO-194 each costs around $50.

They still won't have a RD0-198 or SL3000. So all you can do is change out the SL-2000 for the less harsh RDO-194. Here are my TL's.

I had a pair of 2.3s for sale a while back. They were non tl just like in the op only with upgraded crossovers and rdo194's. I finally sold em for $825 but I had to sit on them for a while. This is the reason I don't see $800 for these guys being a great deal.

Thanks for the (obviously knowledgeable) comments on them. I rarely see a pair of speakers in this quality range around here. STL and KC, yeah, but it's fairly rare for central MO.

So you cannot change to the RDO-198s even with a crossover modification?

BYW- Nice Hagar live album you have sitting on the floor. Don't see those everyday.

Yes and no.
Here I go again with yes and no. :lmao:

Yes you can upgrade to RDO-198 by adding a 5.8uf capacitor on smaller monitor and SDA-2b type speakers.
But 2.3 has not only crossover changes but also the whole layout of drivers that are different in 2.3TL like 4 drivers inside vs outside.
