A few weeks ago, Flashpant answered my ad for a pr. of Telefunken Smooth Plate 12AX7s. When he described what sound he was hoping for, "more depth and not bright," I recommended a pair of Telef Ribbed Plate ECC83s. IMHO, smooth plate Tellees do have more brightness, which can also lend a more forward sound.
The ribbed plates have an enormous sound stage, with depth and height, plus fantastic separation/definition of instruments within that deep soundstage.
I guaranteed Flashpant these tubes would please his ears. We agreed on price.
Upon his first listen, he wrote me how much he liked them and was very appreciative.
