Mohawk toners are made for blending repairs like this. They are what furniture repair pros use. If it is lacquer, the aerosol should blend right in. Yes, these are dyes and are very transparent. I have used many types on guitars and antiques. I would prefer to have a test sample first, but that may not be an option.
