So I was wondering about the level of posting activity on AK. I looked at the Members List which say that there are 28,535 members.

But then I thought I'd sort it by number of posts the result being the following stats:

• There are 30 members listed per page

• there are about 550 pages with members that have zero posts, so that's approx 16,500 members
• this goes up to about 800 pages with members who posted up to 10 times, so that's 24,000 members with 10 or less posts
• the 100 post mark is reached about page 900 so appox 27,000 members have 100 or less posts

looking at it from the other end

• there are only 19 pages with members who posted more than 500 times (totaling 570 members)
• but breaking the 1,000 post barrier - 11 pages for a total of 330 members
• and breaking the 3,000 post mark are 97 members (as of today)

There really is no point to this. I was just interested and procrastinating from the work I should actually be doing.

And you're only at 350. Better get busy!

:scratch2:
Maybe AK should start issuing its post contributors with stars with different colors to encourage more activity - you know, not unlike the feedback stars on eBay. Newbies get a white one - of course, just like in judo. You have to EARN your color belt.

Whatcha think?

I guess after 1200+ posts................

I've done enough research...............

And really should purchase my FIRST stereo system?

Aw, come on! It's not a contest! As long as you're not within a couple hundred posts of me, at least.

There's some great ways to legitimately post-whore and make AK a friendlier and cooler place at the same time.

Just wish everyone a happy birthday in the daily birthday posts, say hi to everyone in the introductions, and (my new favorite when I'm at home and listening to my system with the internet on) posting religiously in the daily tunes threads. Pretty soon you'll get into the 99th percentile with 1300 posts or so and people will falsely assume you know what the hell you're talking about. :thmbsp:

There is also the :thmbsp: when you agree with someone or the :lmao: when someone posts a funny statement!

On a productive, if not humorous note, if we could devise a way to get the
27K members with fewer than 100 posts to become subscribers, we could almost go public!

I amuse easily.

Ok, med time.
