Power Supply Caps

Hoping to replace the 13,000 uf supply caps in my 2275 this past weekend but quickly realized I may not have enough heat in my soldering iron (60W) to deal with the jumper bar that spans the two caps. Anyone have suggestions on best way to remove/re-install the bar and wires? What iron would work best here?

You might be able to flow some fresh solder onto the bar to increase the heat transfer. You could also try 2 small irons at the same time.

Thanks for the tips. I did try flowing fresh solder, but I just couldn't get enough heat into the bar to make a good connection to either the capacitor tab or the wires. I like the two iron idea and will give that a try.
 
Just spring for a Weller gun from your local hardware store, it will do the trick and you're less likely to burn wires.

A 60W iron should be fine to de-solder the grounding bar. Remove the screw that connects the bar to the chassis, insert a piece of cardboard between the bar and the chassis; apply a generous amount of paste flux and use a de-soldering braid to remove the solder on the capacitor tabs.
