power switch install for zenith amplifier

Hi guys. I am starting to restore my first tube amplifier that I pulled from a Zenith stereophonic console, and before I open the can of worms, I want to install a power switch so I don't have to lug the tuner around to turn it on. Any help on which wires go to my on/off switch? Thanks.

I believe the switch would go between the brown wire from the power cord and the larger yellow wire that also goes to that socket. Verify where the black wire goes too. If its just a connection to chassis ground, then brown to yellow is your switch.

The switch should go in series with the fuse. Lift the brown wire off the fuse and attach it to the new switch. Then connect the other lug on the switch to the fuse where the brown wire was.

I don't believe that will complete the circuit though. The wiring appears to come from the line cord to the fuse, and out of the fuse into one side of the transformer primary. The other side of the line cord goes to that 4 pin socket next to the fuse. The switch would need to go from there to the other side of the transformer primary.

Also just a matter of personal preference, but I like fuses to be the first thing in line. If the switch happened to fail internally, I want the fuse to pop before I do.

I think he's asking which pins to jump to complete the circuit,,, Looks like teh top L line (brown wire),, and the top R, with the red/ yellow wire, on the power jack.... However, as previously stated, I would also put the switch in the line with the fuse, and jump the wires on the jack...

John

Thanks guys, its installed. one leed went to the brown wire with the brown cap and the other to the yellow wire with the red. The socket was removed and the switch took its place. (pics in a moment).
