Powering on/off

Question for you all -

I have a C32 preamp running an MC250 amp. I am playing music off a DAC from a computer. Question I have for you - On this Solid-State setup, is it important to turn on/off all the time or can I just leave it on? What harm is there?

Thanks

You know, I had my 2505 and MX112 on for two years straight, and this is the way I ran it. Now that I have a small son, I run the 2505/2300/2255 with the Mx110s/Rega CD Player all with a Furman PL-8 power conditioner - I have no idea how well it conditions, but I use it as the main power switch (like a power bar) for everything that I turn on in the morning and shut off at night. Since both Mx110s use tubes, I thought it would be better to shut it off overnight since I don't want to go through tubes all the time...

I was told years ago that there is a sequence to turning on and off amp to pre. ie; Turn on- pre first then amp, turn off- amp first then pre. Not sure which order i forget. Anyone hear of this??

To Turn on:
sequence: pre-amp, power amp

To Turn off:
reverse of above
put the volume to 0
power off the amp
power off the pre-amp

this worked for me and no popping sound on the speakers

just my 2 cents

I have power interconnects between amp-preamp-CDplayer, so the required sequence is respected.I called McIntosh to ask should I turn-off my system when not in use. The answer was :YES

My setup is quite similar to yours: MC252, C46, and MVP871. I am new to McIntosh, however.

Do you turn on/off amp and CD player with the preamp's remote controller? How do you control your system in general, please? Do we need a Universal Remote like Harmony in our application, I wonder.
