Pre out problems?

I've just picked up a Vincent SP-331 amp, which I was going to connect with my Sansui AU-5500 as a pre amp.

Scenario:
Both machines is connected, and the SP-331 is ON.
Once put the Sansui ON as well, there is a LOUD noice coming from the speakers, and the SP-331 is sounding like there is a relay or switch or something working really fast. ("click-click-click-click")
Alltogether; it sounds like something is really bad.

Good to know:
Sansui has been on service at a pro-shop, and Everything looks nice, DC and output signals is fine.
SP-331 works good with my DAC as pre-amp signal.

Sansui 0.8 v output and SP-331 has 1.2 v sensitivity. No spec problems.

And of course the Sansui works good stand alone.

Anyone here that might understand what the problem is?

Thanks and regards from Sweden
/Joakim

Did you switch the pre/main switch on the back of the AU-5500 from connected to seperated ?

If no then I'd start there.
If yes,then I dunno.

Hi Bret,

Yes, i have tried to switch the switch both at both directions, but the signal issue still remains.
The volume is at zero at the Sansui also...

I really would like to get the both machines work together. Any other suggestions? :)

Thanks in advance!

Joakim, the very first thing to do is determine whether the pre-out is working on your Sansui. Slide that switch to separates on the back of the amp. Then connect an audio patch cord from pre-out to main in.

Your Sansui should work as normal, but if you once again get no sound, there is a problem with the pre-out.

Hope this helps...

Jerry
