Not in particular. It depends on whether or not the songs lend themselves to being played on acoustic instruments.
On his 2nd solo album (Real), Michael Sweet recorded an acoustic version of the Stryper song "Always There for You". It was horrible! The song simply does NOT lend itself to being played on acoustic guitar. Mike should have known that since he either wrote or cowrote it. What's worse is that he went ahead and published this collosal failure. Having been a fan of Stryper since discovering them in '85 and having really enjoyed Mike's first solo album (self titled), I was hugely disappointed by this version of the song. The rest of the album is pretty good though not quite as good as the first one. I'm glad that he stayed with Stryper all these years and aside from Tim Gaines leaving (most unfortunately), the lineup has stayed the same.
