Price check : new McIntosh MA-252 , 352

Me likes the eargasm retroplasm...
I was just quoted these prices for two new integrated hybrid amps:

MA-252 - $4000

MA-352- $6500

I think these prices are above MSRP.
I’ve never bought new Mac before, is this the price of entry?

Please move if this belongs in D&S

I understand this. The list on the MA-252 is $3500. I can’t find the list on the Ma-352.

I am asking if it is normal for a dealer to want More than list ?
If it is highly desired then pay above MSRP?

My Mac tech has contacts with a different dealer but he is out of the country for 9 months. I think this Denver dealer is padding his number.

I was hoping someone here at AK would know the list on the MA-352. But I’ll keep my ear to the rail.
 
Today pricing is not what it was when Gordon Gow was President of Mac. If you were caught discounting Mac or giving kick backs or selling accessories at a reduced price on the same invoice you were in trouble. The distributor would walk in check your invoices every 90 days or so and if there was an issue give you a check for what you had in stock and take it back. Today everyone discounts Mac, especially if you Are a long time customer with a proven long history. The FTC stopped fixed pricing in the 70's. After I retired I use to buy my Mac in states where the dealers new me as a former member of the Mac dealer family and the state didn't charge a sales tax. I use to get demo. pricing and paying no sales tax use to save me quite a bit. Thing is demo units use to only carry a 90 day warranty. Don't know if the still applies. As I mostly buy pre-owned and have done business with Audio Classics for as long as they have been in business that is where I shop now. I did buy my MVP 891 new from a local dealer at a great. price, but he knew me and the 891 was soon to be replaced by the 901. So I guess you could say it was discontinued and a display model. But it has worked flawlessly for 3 and 1/2 years, so I am happy. Oh I have had to reset the logic when two brown outs occurred, but that's no big deal. Our local Mac dealer no longer sells Mac, and the tech that use to work for us when we were a Mac dealer and the former Mac dealer has left town. So I depend on Audio Classics even more now days.
 
I’m not expecting a discount. I’m just curious what the list is. Maybe my curiosity means I’m not the typical Mac buyer. I accept that.
