Primaluna Prologue 3 pre-amp + solid state amp = problem

My friend's Primaluna Prologue 3 (tube) pre-amp, when tied to a solid state amp, makes a popping sound when the pre-amp is turned on.
When tied to a tube amp there is no popping when the pre-amp is turned on.
Might anyone have any guidance on this?

A popping sound through the speakers? The power amp should be off when turning on the preamp.
If you turn on at (nearly) the same time a valve preamp and valve power amp you won't hear a pop because the power amp takes a few seconds to warm up.
