Pro-ject maia preamplifier

Hello. I am looking for a budget, compact, all-in-one type of preamplifier that can be coupled with my Eve SC207 studio monitors. It doesn't need to be a great one. If the sound is clear enough for listening music and does what it is supposed to do, I would be fine with it. Thanks for the advice. What do you think about this preamlifiers quality? Has anyone ever used the preamp version? If yes, could you comment on it?

Generally speaking you don’t connect speakers to a pre. The pre only version doesn’t have speaker connections.
 
You can if they are active and self powered.

Maia Pre is a preamp that is designed to be used with a power amp or with active speakers. Maia Amp is an integrated amp and can be used with passive speakers. His question was, has anyone ever used the preamp version? If yes, could you comment on it?
