Pro-ject tt arm balance?

I just picked up a Pro-ject Debut 3 for the heck of it because it was a good deal.Thia actually will not get played much so I put an Ortofon 2mRed cart on it.
So my question is......when I balance the tonearm would I do it before I hook the anti skate weight on?

The owner's manual for the only Pro-Ject tonearm I've worked on did mention doing the tonearm balance before attaching the antiskate weight, so I'm thinking that would be the most likely way but let me check the Debut 3 manual......hang on

Yup, the owner's/instruction manual clearly states to adjust the "downforce" (to do that you first need to balance the tonearm of course) before attaching the antiskate weight......so, there you go! Do you not have the owner's manual?

no,bought it on Marketplace without cart for 100.00,i know how to do everything else as I have done many times on the tables I have used alot.
Thanks for info.

Arm balance is a sensitive thing, or at least it should be. With anti-skate weight attached it would be a royal PITA, so no, done without it.
