So,I have a Debut lll with an Ortofon M2 Blue, and also an Essentials lll with a Ortofon OM10.

I know there is a bit of difference in the carts but I'm just wondering what you all thought is the better TT as I have been on line for a while and seem to get a few different answers,so............school me in this not taking in considerations of the carts, thank you.

My advice is always, whenever possible, to let your own ears tell you what the better option is. You have both turntables, so which do you prefer? I have heard both, but only briefly and never head-to-head.

Crab33 pointed out that the Debut line is a step above the Essential line, but the Essential III is several years newer than the Debut III, and it is not uncommon for newer, lower-line models to eclipse the performance of an older, higher-line model (e.g., the new Planar 2 from Rega is reported to be better than older versions of the Planar 3).

Debut with Blue is best bang for dollar. I owned one.

Although you said ignore the cartridges, if you were to fit a Stylus 20 to the OM cartridge on the Essential, this would bring the two cartridges to the same 'level' (nude elliptical styli) and you may even find the resulting OM20 preferable to the 2M Blue.

Interesting,I was thinking of doing that anyway,I think the scales just tipped in that direction.
