ProAc Response 1's'

The last thing I was planning to do this week was buy another pair of speakers but I found a pair listed on Nextdoor and Facebook Marketplace 5 minutes from my house that I couldn't pass up. What I bought was a pair of ProAc Response 1's' and the seller threw in MIT Terminator 2 speaker cables with the speakers. I'm pretty sure I could sell the cables for more than I bought the speakers for.

I know that in order to listen to them properly stands are essential and I'm working on getting some, but even with just listening to them with a complete disregard for placement I am blown away. I have them hooked up to a Luxman R-117. I've been listening to a lot of jazz lately and these sound incredible with jazz.

Anyone else have any experience with these or with ProAc in general?

The ProAc 2-way monitor speakers are magical, I have a pair of the original Tablettes. Keep the speaker cable, use a quality amplifier, and stands.

Great find ! If you want those to look new again the rotting foam on the tweeter faceplate can be replaced, Genuine foam with the ProAc logo are available but pretty expensive or you can get unlabled foam from Madisound for 10 bucks each, Tweeter is the Scanspeak D2010/8513

great speakers, great find! I've owned R2S, 3, 3.5, Super Tablettes. :)
I think that woofer may be irreplaceable, so go gently!
Don't leave them too long on top of the cabinet. They'll send too much vibration into the table.

Thanks, I've been really enjoying them! The placement was just for the purposes of the photo. I bought stands for them, here's my setup today.

That is a GREAT set-up. I would totally live with that. As they are rear-ported, you may bring them out a bit from the wall to adjust your bass response.

Had a bunch of Tablettes, including a pair under my sofa right now, need to replace one of the tweeter voicecoils. Very good speakers, I don't think Proac have ever made a bad speaker, they were formerly known as Celef and Celef branded speakers sell for next to nothing despite being equally as good.

Shame you're not in Canada. I have an extra (operational) vintage tweeter :)
