I know the first thing all the experts say , trust your ears. lol!

Here is my question, i got a pair of 3A's and i love it. I only had it for like a day and it sounds already great with my gear. (humble pioneer A-D5A). My friend is offering me an exchange because he has a problem with the size of Proac Response 2.5. I wouldn't mind helping him out if they sounds somewhat close.

I am yet to give a listening to Proac Response 2.5 because he lives quiet far.

What do you folks think? I like Female vocals, Jazz, some rock etc. Also likes classical.

Well, give them a listen? Bring your gear and see how they sound? I would suspect the ProAc will have more bass due to the tower configuration. Both ProAc and 3a are good speaker brands. I would lean towards ProAc if you have the room/ability to have them.

Thank you for the reply. A lot of people say proac is picky on amplifiers. I have a pioneer a-d5a and a denon pma-360. I don't know if that's enough to make them sound good.
 
How big is your room ? The ProAcs will overpower a small room with bass which may be your friends issue as they don't take up any more floor space than any stand mount speaker will.

I own the 2.5's and have them 3 feet out from the back wall. They are not very efficient, rated 86 db but closer to 83 db according to reviews. I drove them with 50 watt Moon integrated with no issue, they sounded very good until the amp started running out of steam but it was louder than I'd ever want to ever listen to for more than a minute. Since the impedance barely drops below 8 ohms almost any decent amp should work well with them.

How far is the drive ? It may be well worth taking a little trip to hear them.
