i bought this hitachi direct drive player the other day and think it looks and sounds wonderfull. So much so that I decided to replace my secondary turntable use this instead, however, even though it was working fine for the first few days, when I went to play a record today I noticed a small defect. When I pull the lever to engage the the player to start playing and for the arm to start moving the motor starts spinning and the arm mechanism engages just fine, but when I release the lever the motor stops turning and the strobe light becomes a lot less bright. This keeps going untill I pull the lever again or put it in repeat mode, which is basically the same thing as permanently pulling the lever. This seems to me like a power issue, especially with the strobe light becoming less bright, but that still leaes the question of how to solve it. I was thinking of just doing a full recap of atleast the psu, but I am not sure if that would fix it. Do any of you have any experience with this issue? Doesn´t have to only apply to this specific recordplayer as I would assume any direct drive player with a similar direct drive system (a dual 701 for example) could face the same problems.
