Programming a Remote Control? (JVC)

I have a 1988 JVC RX-1001V integrated receiver which is missing the remote control.

Is it possible to purchase a new generic RC and get it to operate this receiver? I am not sure how I would/could program it. I don't have a manual for the receiver either.

Google something like universal remote controls at Amazon.com. Look at one you might like to purchase, then google the JVC model receiver codes to that particular universal remote.

If your receiver model number is listed, it should work.

I bought a universal remote a few years ago, and I wanted it to work with everything that I have that is remote control capable. I did the research before I bought it just to make sure that it contained all of the codes to two of my TV's, two CD players, DVD player, surround receiver, etc.

It works on them all so I just eliminated six seperate remote controls.
