Prophile 4's

A local shop has a pair of Prophile 4s. They are beasts and there is very little known about them outside of one thread I found here on AK. The maker operated in Binghamton, NY as JSG and JSE (of Infinite Slope game) made the boxes. They sound great, but at $900 I think the price is high. Another guy here in PA that refurbs is selling a pair of Prophile 2s for under $300. Any clue what these JSG Prophile 4 are really worth (aside from what someone else might be willing to pay for them)?

I don't know what they're worth now; what I can tell you is that the MSRP was $4500/pair in 1988 (page 378). So compared to what Infinity Kappas of similar vintage are selling for today, the asking price sounds like a bargain. Is the shop negotiable at all?

Very cool link for the 1988 Audio bible. Thanks! The dimensions on that JSA pair for $4,500 are over six feet tall! My best guess based on the configuration, size and speakers is that these are the 310P Model described there, but I'm not certain...so perhaps in the $1,500-2,000 range retail in 1988. They look exactly like what another AK poster calls his Profile 4's. Rear vent, separate binding posts for the subwoofer, angular grill cloth, etc.
