Proton 300 Antenna Question(s)

Does anyone know these antenna answers about the Proton 300:
a) SWITCH? Does it have a switch for external antenna (can't find one but my Sangean WR11 does but honestly performs better with internal antenna)
b) GYRO: There seems to be a gyroscopic antenna attached (I think - it looks like a telescope and rotates on a ball) - is it AM only or FM also?
c) DIPOLE: If I connect a dipole antenna to the FM external antenna screws, does it work in tandem with the gyroscopic antenna so both affect FM reception?

Usually the swivel antenna mounted to the back is for AM. This is a table radio, so hard to tell for sure. The service manual is here...

Welcom to AK! Just connect the dipole to the fm external screws.. Am on back as noted.

I have the 300/301. The antenna already attached is for AM. There are screws (as I recall, it's not here now) for attaching an FM antenna. I've used the simple dipole, a Terk, and a couple of rabbit-ear designs. All work well, the rabbit-ears my preference (easy to "aim"). There's no switch IIRC — the AM/FM selector does it for you.

It's a great sounding unit. It won "Audio Product of the Year" when introduced. The addition of a 301 speaker (also self-amplified) turns it into a full, very good Stereo system — it has a "Tape" input you can use for another line-level source, eg Digital.

Even better, plug in a 'Source Selector'. They're about 20 bucks and handle 4 extra sources. One of them can be a Phono Preamp if you like vinyl.

It's a great system with lots of versatility, very compact, fits almost anywhere, and attractive IMO. Calling it a "radio" diminishes it 90%.
