PS Audio Delta 100 any good?

Just curious where this amplifier falls in the grand scheme of things - is this a former decent amp, still a good one, a good one with catches, picky about equipment (synergy), etc.?

I have a few amps right now, but I'm wondering if this would be an upgrade to any of them. Current amps are Sansui B-2101 (200 wpc), NAD C270 (120 wpc), Pioneer A-27 (125 wpc, based off M-25 amplifier so I think this is 30 watts Class A, 125 watts class A/B). I don't see PS Audio for sale too often, so I don't know anything about them - other than they have done some interesting things over the years.

Anyone care to weigh in?

it's a good amp. i ran Delta 250 monoblocks for a while and was very impressed. the Delta 100 shares most, if not all, of the important stuff from the TOTL design.

Anyone else use PS Audio amplifiers? I'm kind of curious their tiering in the amplifier world - as some of the stuff they make is expensive but some seems to be considerably more affordable. Even my friends who deal with a lot more audio stuff haven't really heard any. Just not sure if I should be dropping a decent amount of cash on it or not.

Yes!

PS Audio make some very fine equipment. The Delta 100 is a high current amp putting out 100 watts per channel. I have not heard it but I have the Elite and Elite Plus integrated amps at 50 watts and 70 watts that are open detailed and musical. The Delta 100 should be a step up from those.

I also have the 200C amp which is a beast. It is their watershed amp of that era (mid 80s) that is up there with the big boys. 200 watts per channel at 8 ohms and 1000 watts at 1 1/2 ohms. It can generate 65 amps without missing a beat and is stable to 1 ohm. It will drive anything. The Delta 100 will not match this one but it will do a good job with most speakers and will not require a dedicate line like the 200C does in older homes.

If you can get the Delta for $200 or less it would be a good buy. Otherwise the 200C or CX can be had for $350 to $500. Either would be a step up from what you have listed with the Pioneer possibly giving the Delta a run for the money. The 200C would be a significant improvement that compares favorably with amps costing $10K or more.

interesting, and different than my experience. i owned the 200CX previously and found the Delta 250 monoblocks to be clearly better. by extension, for less demanding applications, the Delta 100 might be preferable over the 200C(X). and i also believe that the Delta 100 is worth in the neighborhood of what the 200C(X) goes for, while the Delta 250s are worth about double that. it's best to stay away from explicit numbers because this is not D&S.
