PSB 500 vs Boston CR9

Hi all
Have a pair of Boston cr9 and they sound really great but curious as I see a pair of psb 500 on sale locally for about 50. Both seem to have similar sensitivity and 8 inch woofers. Really like the Bostons but the PSB appears to have a lower frequency extension. I'm not using a sub as I feel like it is hard to integrate subs I have tried when listening to two channel music.

Has anyone heard both of these speakers? If yes then how do they differ? Thanks

Having used both of those brands of speakers over the years, they are quite comparable and I can't say one is better than the other. Both are similar design and size but will offer a different "presentation" although still quite similar. Buy them and compare and see what YOUR ears tell you as I can't see that many people would have ever heard both side by side. Keep the ones you like better and sell the others. I doubt you'd lose any money.

I have some psb 500s and I wonder if anybody else has looked at the x-over
I think it has one electrolytic cap, and should I replace it, and with what?
My knowledge is limited but I can probably solder it if I know the right part to buy.

Spent years listening to PSB 500i and they sound nice with whatever genre was played. They have really nice bass for their size and do really well at making less than ideal recordings listenable even with a 30wpc amp. The only bad thing I can say is they are not super revealing but make up for it by making the the majority of my recordings listenable unlike those super revealing speakers. I had a pair of CR6 or 8 for a very short time, they just didnt move me.
