PSB 800 vs PSB Century 800"i"

Help me pick between some sub $200 towers (PSB, Paradigm, SD)

I've found a local seller who is selling a pair of original PSB 800 speakers ..no "i" or "century" wording.

Are the PSB 800's different than the century 800i's. Also, I'm finding that some people say these speakers are 8ohm and some say 6ohm. Which one is it exactly?

If you can give me a link to a full spec sheet that'd be great also.

I read somewhere that the century 800i's were a later model but were there any actual audible differences? Thank you.

The i series was a subtle rework of the original. You could not really tell them apart at a glance. The biggest difference was the fact that the i are bi-wireable. Specs:

Both are great speakers, I doubt the difference was significant. More of a case of keeping up with current trends and the competition. I used to sell the originals and left the business just before the i came out. I currently have two pairs of 800 in my HT set up.

Unless your amp is really marginal I would not worry about the difference between 6 and 8 Ohms

Id lean towards the 11se's or Spend 400 and get the paradigms and psb's...try and sell the pair you like least.

PSB 800's are great speakers, I paid full retail back in the day $800, I started with the Alpha's, liked them but wanted more Bass, the local shop allowed be to trade up, so I went through the entire base model line, settled on the 800's, these things really rock, great for any kind of music, you can push these very hard with a good amp, no stress or strain in the sound

I picked up a set of 800i's a few weeks back and wasn't initially impressed with them, well at least not as Altec A7 killers. Tonight I hooked them up to a Yamaha A720 amp I also recently acquired and am finding them quite nice and rethinking their place here. They are drawing me in quite a bit and I'll have to give them a prolonged listen down here as i am enjoying them quite a bit today.
