Hi, just wanted to pass along something I discovered. Picked up a pair of these speakers for free the other day because one of the woofers was dead. It also had the remains of a wasps nest inside but that's another story.
These speakers are pretty easy to work on, just remove the 6 phillips screws on the back and gently pull back the rear panel. The crossover is attached to this panel so do not pull to hard, the speaker wires are attached to the speakers with spade lugs so easy to remove. The woofer is held in place by 4 phillips screws are removed from inside the speaker. You do not have to try and remove the grill (it's glued on btw) to work on this speaker!
I traced the wiring from the rear plugs all the way to the speakers and wiring was good to the speaker. When I pulled out the woofer the problem was immediately apparent. The braided wire that runs from the voice coil to the terminal on the body of the woofer had become detached at the terminal. A quick soldier and the speakers are back to normal. I noticed that the other wire was also starting to look bad so re-soldiered that as well. I couldn't find the post which I thought was on here by someone with these speakers who had a bad woofer as this might be a simple fix if the same problem.
