Pyle it on?

I have a pair of B&W LM-1 Leisure Monitor speakers in the kitchen. Currently they're powered by the main system in the living room, but that's inconvenient for many reasons. Since the kitchen is less for critical listening than for critical cuisine, I don't need to drive the little things with the 150 w/ch from the B&K ST-3030 II.

And since I'm mainly going to use a Kindle Fire tablet or my Android phone as Bluetooth sources, I don't need access to volume, balance, selector or any of the usual amp controls. I'll chuck it in the pantry (the speaker wires run through that already) and leave it always on.

So I'm seriously considering Pyle's PFA-330BT. Has anyone had experience with this specific model?

I think you need a better main system! :rflmao:
Well I don't mean that at all, what I'm getting at is why have more stuff, it's not like you get better imaging while walking around and doing things. My main system is one room away from my kitchen, I can here it in every room of the house and across the street if I want to.

Pyle is crap... but I DO wish other manufacturers would take notice of the fact that Pyle at least gives a crap about how their products look. Effort is put into styling... something that is nearly absent from all other brands.
If Pyle can do this with their many sub $200 products, why can't Pioneer/Yamaha/Denon/Techics/Outlaw accomplish this with their much more expensive rigs??

So, nobody here likes the idea of the Pyle, but there are guys here, I bet, who could point you toward affordable solutions. Guys smarter than me about what you're doing. Hopefully, we can be helpful in the midst of this pyle-on. :)

I use a Pyle 2x15w amp for my headphones with my computer instead of cheap comp. speakers. Does great for that but I wouldn't try to drive any good speakers with it. Oh, and no way it puts out true 15w.

I wasn't going to get into personal stuff, but yes, the main system could certainly be heard in the kitchen. The issue isn't really audibility but control and I mean physical rather than personal control. Then there's also the matter of not being the only person in the house.

The Pyle ("pile") arrived yesterday. It's discreetly tucked away on the floor in the back of a pantry and doing its intended job nicely. Weak pots and switches? Could be, but I'll never find out. They're set and will never be flipped, pressed, or rotated again. I did go into the kitchen late last night for a sip of juice and the blue LEDs did add an eerie glow behind the rustic pantry door.

The B&Ws on the wall over the sink seem not to disdain being driven by it. The listening is very enjoyable.

That is actually not a bad price for all it does. It's definitely not my first choice for critical listening but I can see it working well in the kitchen for prep duties. I'd guess it uses one of the usual amp chips which are actually pretty darn good so there's really no surprise that it will sound nice.

I have an Onkyo in the bedroom (driving B&Ws incidentally) the girlfriend uses to listen to movies and music but she hates hooking up the wire to her laptop. An integrated BT solution might be just the ticket.

Pyle's not that bad. 'Course, it's not that good either. I think you get what you pay for, and since it's not free, you're getting SOMETHING. If you are careful with it, it will probably work pretty well if you're just looking for some sounds.

If you take everything you buy to a Mac clinic, Pyle's not for you.

Or even if you don't. Isn't good enough for most of us for most purposes. I just wouldn't expect it to work very long at all, and believe there are better economical choices than this; however, if it calls your name you're not out too much anyway when it fails.

Are there still Mac clinics? You better not try to tell me that David O'Brien is still around.

Further Pyle report.

I had my Pandora shuffle channel playing through the Pyle as I did up some potatoes and eggs for breakfast. With some regularity a majorly annoying BRAAAAAPPPP came out of the right channel speaker. The BT feed was coming from my Fire tablet. I tried moving it closer to the Pyle. About 2 feet away. No significant effect. I shut down the Fire and took my LG Android phone in hand, started Pandora, listened all through the prep and eating with no further annoyances. I might even claim that the overall sound had improved. So from now on it's phone + Pyle. I'm going to have a word with Amazon, however.
