Q re: biamp mixing tube/ss

I've got twin 501's driving Von Schweikert VR4jr's, shotgun biwired. Thinking about biamping with a 275MkV using the tube amp for the mid/high and the 501's on the bottom. Here's the reason for the question. I visited our local Mac dealer and the salesman/kid thought this was a bad idea; he says I shouldn't mix SS and tubes. I think he's wrong. What do you think?

SS amp and Tube amp sounds a little different. The McIntosh SS amp sounds really close to a tube amp but, it does sound different. May be that is why he suggest not to do it.

In one of my system, I have the 275s driving the low and the 225s driving the highs.
