QR-6500 Audio Out

Hi All,

The QR-6500 is an awesome machine, I shipped it from Canada to NZ when I moved home after a couple issues with the power supply its up and running. However I'm trying to combine the old with the new and I want to know if I can use the receiver to power two (maybe three) pairs of speakers and have an audio out so I can connect a Sonos Connect. I get lost pretty quick when I look at all the plugs on the back of the unit.

My aim is to be to play records through the wireless sonos speakers and wired speakers connected to the receiver simultaneously. I could run the TT through a preamp to Sonos to QR 6500 but I would rather have the Sonos downstream of the receiver to preserve the analogue signal (and I would have to buy a preamp).

Hi brettc182, welcome to AudioKarma. This is a "Quad" receiver. It's designed to use with 4 speakers to take advantage of it's "surround sound" feature. You need to find the speaker impedance for each pair. If they are 8 ohm speakers then there are no restrictions on how to use them. You can connect 8 ohm speakers to the rear outputs and to front "A" outputs. You can also connect a third pair of 8 ohm speakers to the front "B" terminals if 4 speakers are not enough. If they are 4 ohm speakers, you can still connect one pair to rear and one pair to "A" with no problem. But it's not recommended to connect a third pair of 4 ohm speakers unless you play the third pair by itself. Playing two pair of 4 ohm speakers on A + B can damage the amp.

You can connect your Sonos system to the "tape out" jacks.
