QS-500 Configuration questions

Oh yeah, I have all connections between the Receiver and the Quad set and have been fiddling with the levels until they're right where I prefer. I was wondering how to integrate the Reverb into the mix. Prior to buying the Quad, I had the Reverb connected to the 4 channel inputs on the receiver. That way, it worked automatically with whatever source material was playing. All I had to do was hit the 4 channel switch on the front of the receiver and it activated the reverb.

Now that I have the Quad Amp connected where the Reverb Amp used to be (4 channel receiver ports), I'm flummoxed as to where/how to connect the Reverb Amp. Do I just daisy chain it through (i.e., Quad Amp -> Reverb Amp -> Receiver) or is there a better way?

I've got the reverb plugged into Tape 1, which is what the RA-500 manual says to do (if I remember correctly). It'll operate exactly as the 4 channel input, because it (4 channel) is actually an additional tape input. The 5500 manual actually says you can use the 4 channel and noise reduction inputs if you need to add additional tape decks past the three provided!!
I usually keep it at its lowest setting, and leave it on all the time. I find it adds a nice warm brightness to the sound, interested to hear what you think.

That's not reverb ... that's phase shifting. Part of the package in a Sui converter.

And yes, I have one in the rack, listen to it regularly, never hear a hint of what most would call "reverb", and am mightily impressed by the additional presence the adapter adds.

PS - worth repeating - it's all about proper adjustment of the line level and balance control. Not all that difficult, pretty much a one shot thang, and well worth the effort when you get it right.

My QS-500 is doing something I think is unusual...was wondering if you would be willing to try something and tell me if yours does it as well??

A small world indeed! I too have a Sansui 5500, and a recently acquired QS-500, that I want to pair up! Can you share details (and possible a pic?) of how you wired everything together? I'm running Sansui SP-2500's on the front, and will be using SP-2000's on the rear. Thank you so much for any info you could share!

A small world indeed! I too have a Sansui 5500, and a recently acquired QS-500, that I want to pair up! Can you share details (and possible a pic?) of how you wired everything together? I'm running Sansui SP-2500's on the front, and will be using SP-2000's on the rear. Thank you so much for any info you could share!

I really like your lab! I looked closely and see mainly a mix of dbx $ Sui. I use a dbx BX-3 amp in one of my racks. And I have two Sui quads and a dbx xover unit. I am very interested in which dbx pieces you use, especially the smaller, narrow pieces and what pieces are directly above your Mac on the left side. I am always looking for new methods/pieces to use. Please Feel free to pm me if you will/want. Thanks
