Hey everyone..
I am no electronics expert, But i like to collect Pro Audio gear, Just for the fun of having a powerful system, At home
I have been quite successful in my previous projects.... My first project was a Peavey CS-1000 amp that i bought for cheap, Blown up.... Repaired that and enjoyed it for a bit, Then bought a Behringer DJX-400 mixer faulty, Fixed that etc etc
As i said, Im no expert, But i know the basics, and quite enjoy learning..
So just bought a QSC PLX-1202 power amp off ebay, Faulty...
Seller showed pictures, of a 8pic Chip.. Possibly a Opamp?!?!? Had gone bang, and was cracked....
So just looking for some advice, ready for when i receive it and get digging into it....
Is it common for a Opamp to go bang and crack?!?! Ive personally not heard of it...
Would it potentially be another issue that caused it?
Seller said "i powered it on.. and it was working for 2-3 mins, then suddenly went POP, and a burning smell... I opened up the cover, to find the chip had gone bang"......
What should i be looking for, when i receive it?
Ive never heard of shorted output transistors causing the OPAMP to go bang (if the chip even is an OPAMP.. will know more when i see it in person)
Any help would be appreciated...
