QUAD COMPARISON...Sansui QRX-7001 compared to the QRX-7500

Hi gang,

Can anyone give opinions concerning the SANSUI QRX-7001 compared to the SANSUI QRX-7500??..Other than the obvious power and controls differences, what about the "quad" quality??

The 7001 has the last and best generation quad matrix. If it's quad you want, then the 7001 is the better choice.

+1, no question. The 7001 has the final generation Vario Matrix, the 7500 is (IIRC) first generation, no steering logic at all. Plus the 7001 has built-in CD4 (whether you need it or not), and a fairly passable SQ circuit.

Sansui's 3 generation vario-matrix used in the QRX-X001 series receivers is widely regarded as the best ever made by anyone. If you want the ultimate, get a QRX-9001

What about the Sansui QRX-7001 compared to the Kenwood KR-9940 ?/

The Kenwood is an excellent quad receiver, but not quite a match for the 'sui. It has a CD-4 demodulator, and an SQ decoder with logic, but its QS/RM section is pretty basic. If you want a quad receiver that will do the best job of creating surround from two channel sources, the QRX series still has the edge.
